ImplementingShift-Left and Shift-Right to highlight and select text is just a matter of recognizing the correct input codes (27 91 49 59 50 68 and 27 91 49 59 50 67 on Mac-OSX/iTerm) and applying some background color or reversing the colors for that snippet before printing.
